Multicultural Day
Every year we hold a multi-cultural day celebration where all the children dress up (in a country of their choice), perform songs and dances they have learned at preschool.
This day acknowledges Maria Montessori’s birthday that falls on the 31st August.
We are a multi-cultural society in our preschool and it is worth celebrating this occasion. As always, after the concert we enjoy a feast as every one has bought a plate of food representing their country.
There were some fantastic costumes this year – everyone went to a big effort! Enjoy the photos…
Melbourne Museum
In term 3 we traveled to the Melbourne Museum by bus.
We had a fantastic time exploring the children’s museum and learning about bugs, dinosaurs and sea creatures!
There are so many interactive displays – you could easily spend a few days there.
Here are some pictures (click on the images to enlarge them)

Preschool Talks for Multicultural Day
Our day of celebration will be on Thursday 3rd September. Starting today and for the next two weeks (17th – 28th August), you are asked to come in an give a brief talk on the country your child has chosen. If you haven’t already, please put your name down on the roster for the day that you will talk.
In preparation for the food on multicultural day, there is a chart in the foyer entrance. Please put down the country and the traditional food you will be bringing. Remember that this year we are unable to warm food at the hall, so please bring something practical.
Education Night for Parents – Montessori Maths Programme

It will be held at the preschool on Monday 31st August, 6.30pm. Parents only please (young babies are okay), and remember to bring some supper to share afterwards.

Hospital Visit
Another excursion in term 2 was an educational trip to the Geelong Hospital. The children were shown what happens in a hospital, the equipment that is used and how doctors and nurses help people to get better. It was a very interactive and fun tour, enjoyed thoroughly by all of those who attended.
